Although the experience of pleasure is our true natural function, many people choose pain. Why? When we´re in pain we still have control of the ego; it is safer than pleasure which is a threat to our ego control.
Eros, Love & Sexuality
Eros is the awakening force that transforms our defenses, our negative beliefs and the distorted feelings that imprison us. Eros leads us to experiences of unification. It is Eros that creates excitement is us. This force appears as a vibrational resonance. In others words, two energy systems, one of which must be human, vibrate sympathetically.
Whereas Eros is a gift, we must work for love; it is an energy and a feeling that follows our will. Love arises from a deep caring and an honest exploration of our own and of another person´s feelings, the mystery and splendor of his or her being. To love, we must believe that our partner, despite distortions, has unique qualities that will lead to spiritual union. Genuine love is an expression of happiness.
The body has its own consciousness. Spirituality is the expansion of consciousness without limits.
The Ego Mask
As a child, we begin to create a defense —a mask— an idealized self-image that affirms self-worth. Perhaps the mask is one of aloofness. Our hostility, rebellion, competence, helplessness. Out of this survival strategy is born a personality.
The Lower Self — Conscious and Unconscious Negative States
Deep within we carry negative emotions that are usually violent and destructive, permeated by rage, hate, and cruelty.
Our lower self absorbs great quantities of energy and is expressed directly in times of crisis when we feel threatened and not in control. We keep a great deal of our energy stored in the lower self because we fear pleasure and our positive feelings. We feel that if we´re positive, we´ll be vulnerable.
The Core
Each one of us has a center, a core of divine wisdom and energy. Everything we need for pleasure and fulfillment resides here in the center of our being. All the manifestations of love can be seen as a connection with our spirituality.
THE FIVE LEVELS OF PERSONALITY
The Body
The body is permeated by pulsatory waves of energy. When you say no to this life force, you say no to life. This river of energy flows ceaselessly within the body and it cannot be stopped without suffering severe consequences.
Emotions/Feelings
An emotion —hate, anger, jealousy, affection and so on— is a general state, a concept. A feeling is a current that flows through us and causes us to feel angry or loving in a particular way about someone or something that affects our life. A feeling is uniquely of the moment; it has no name but we can usually categorize it as an emotion or another …love, hate, anger, etc.
When we take responsibility for our hate, our cruelty, we have acknowledged the truth and begun our journey of self-transformation.
Mind/Thought
Our thoughts are dominated by distorted images from our early years. If a woman believes that she doesn´t deserve love, she will be unable to develop a relationship based on love; if a man believes he doesn´t deserve to be happy he will create conditions in his life that keep happiness away.
Will
Our will is responsible for freedom of action and expression. We keep an eye on our destination by asking ourselves "Where am I going with my life?"
We possess two kinds of will: active (outer will) and receptive (inner will). The active will initiates assertive and aggressive behavior. The receptive will —the will of the heart— responds to intuitive and spiritual energies and is activated through prayer, meditation, and dreams.
The Spiritual Self
Our spirituality lies in wholeness. As we unify body, feelings, thought, and will we grow in the spiritual dimension. The result of this unification is love: love for oneself, for another and for life in all its magnificent forms. From this spiritual place which we call our higher self, comes our creative power. This power gives meaning to our lives; it opens the gate to a path beyond material concerns, beyond the confines of personal reality. A path to unification with the great mystery, the universal spirit —God.
Aunque la experiencia del placer es nuestra verdadera función natural, muchas personas escogen el dolor. ¿Por qué? Cuando sentimos dolor estamos, todavía, en control del ego; el dolor nos resulta más seguro que el placer, el cual representa una amenaza al control del ego.
Eros, Amor y Sexualidad
Eros es una fuerza que nos despierta y transforma nuestras defensas, nuestras creencias negativas y los sentimientos distorsionados que nos aprisionan. Eros nos conduce a experiencias de unificación. Es eros el que crea excitación en nosotros. Esta fuerza aparece como una vibración resonante. En otras palabras, dos sistemas de energía (uno de ellos debe ser humano) vibran de manera simpática.
Mientras que eros es un don, el amor requiere trabajo por parte de nosotros; este ultimo es una energía y un sentimiento que procede de nuestra voluntad. El amor se expresa como un profundo afecto y una exploración honesta de nuestros sentimientos y de los del otro, del misterio y esplendor de su ser. El amor demanda que creamos que, a pesar de sus particulares imperfecciones, nuestra pareja posee cualidades especiales que harán posible la union espiritual. El amor genuino es una expresión de la felicidad.
El cuerpo posee su propia conciencia. La espiritualidad es la expansión de la conciencia sin límites.
La Máscara del Ego
De niños comenzamos a crear una defensa —una máscara—, una auto-imagen idealizada que afirma nuestro sentido de valor propio. Quizá las máscara sea de distanciamiento. Nuestra hostilidad, rebelión, competitividad, indefensión. A partir de esta estrategia de supervivencia es que surge la personalidad.
El Ser Inferior — Estados Negativos Conscientes e Inconscientes
Profundamente dentro de nosotros habitan emociones negativas, usualmente violentas y destructivas, impregnadas de rabia, odio, y crueldad.
Nuestro ser inferior absorbe grandes cantidades de energía que se manifiesta directamente en tiempos de crisis, cuando nos sentimos amenazados y sin control. Mantenemos gran cantidad de energía almacenada en nuestro ser inferior porque le tememos al placer y a nuestros sentimientos positivos. Sentimos que el ser positivos nos hace vulnerables.
Nuestro centro
Cada uno de nosotros tiene un centro, el cual está conformado por sabiduría y energía. Todo lo que necesitamos, en cuanto a placer y plenitud, está en el centro de nuestro ser. Todas las manifestaciones de amor pueden considerarse como una conexión con nuestra espiritualidad.
LOS CINCO NIVELES DE LA PERSONALIDAD
El Cuerpo
El cuerpo está imbuido de olas pulsantes de energía. Cuando usted dice “no” a esta fuerza de la vida, le está diciendo no a la vida. Este río de energía fluye incesantemente dentro del cuerpo, y no se puede detener sin que se sufran severas consecuencias.
Emociones/Sentimientos
Una emoción —odio, rabia, celos, afecto, etc.— es un estado general, un concepto. Un sentimiento es una corriente que fluye a través de nosotros y que nos hace sentir rabia o afecto de una manera particular, hacia algo o hacia alguien que influye en nuestra vida. Un sentimiento es particular a determinado momento; no posee nombre, pero usualmente le podemos categorizar como determinada emoción… amor, odio, rabia, etc.
Cuando nos hacemos responsables de nuestro odio, de nuestra crueldad, reconocemos la verdad y así comienza nuestro viaje de auto-transformación.
Mente/Pensamiento
Nuestros pensamientos son dominados por imágenes distorsionadas que se crearon en nuestra infancia. Si una mujer considera que no merece amor, sera incapaz de desarrollar una relación con base en el amor; si un hombre considera que no merece ser feliz, creará condiciones que mantendrán la felicidad lejos de su vida.
La Voluntad
La voluntad es la responsable de nuestra libertad de actuar y de expresar. Mantenemos la mira en nuestro destino al preguntarnos “¿Hacia dónde voy con mi vida?”
Poseemos dos tipos de voluntad: activa (voluntad externa) y receptiva (voluntad interna). La voluntad activa da lugar al comportamiento asertivo y agresivo. La voluntad receptiva —la voluntad del corazón— responde a las energías intuitivas y espirituales, y es activada a través de la oración, la meditación, y los sueños.
El Ser Espiritual
Nuestra espiritualidad está asentada en la totalidad. A medida que unificamos el cuerpo, los sentimientos, el pensamiento, y la voluntad, crecemos en nuestra dimensión espiritual. El resultado de esta unificación es el amor: amor hacia uno mismo, hacia otros, y hacia la vida en todas su magnificencia. Desde este lugar que denominamos nuestro ser superior, surge nuestro poder de creación. Este poder le aporta significado a nuestra vida; abre las puertas a un sendero que está más allá de nuestras preocupaciones materiales, más allá de los confines de nuestra realidad personal. Un camino de unificación con el gran misterio, el espíritu universal —Dios.
